STARKS (AP) — A 53-yearold Maine woman has been charged with spitting in the face of a town selectman to express her displeasure over a proposed telecommunications tower.
The Somerset County Sheriff ’s Department says Cindy Brown of Starks was issued a summons for assault Saturday for allegedly spitting at Selectman Paul Frederic after a planning board meeting Aug. 21 where the board approved a building application for the tower.
Brown and her husband have said the tower, which would be located about 700 feet from their home, poses health risks and is an eyesore.
Selectmen say the town will benefit from improved cell phone reception.
Brown said she had no comment.
Brown and her husband are well-known for hosting events at their farm in support of marijuana legalization.
