LISBON — Frank V. Thompson III, 59, of Lisbon, passed away very unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Sept. 5, 2013.

He was born in Weymouth, MA on April 19, 1954, a son of the late Frank V. Thompson Jr. and Frieda (Trussell) Thompson. Frank enlisted himself into the U.S. Navy at 17 years old, worked as an aviation mechanic mate and traveled to Japan, Spain, Guam, Bermuda, Iceland, Greenland and all over the U.S. He served during the Vietnam War, Cold War, the 1st Operation Desert Storm and retired after 20 years of service.

Frank married Gladys Annal Farris on August 22, 1988, in Richmond, ME. They later settled down in Key West, FL and owned and operated CADZAK Corporation, named after the five children they joined together to make his family complete.

 

 

He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking while watching Patriot and Red Sox games and loved making people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gladys Thompson of Lisbon. His aunt, Dorothy Richmond, of Lisbon; his sister, Marcia Daniels and husband Mark of Joppa, MD; a half sister Christine Polito of Middleboro, MA. His children, Kristopher and wife Isbely of Groton, CT, Cassandra and husband Christopher of Lisbon, Zachary and fiancé Gabrielle of Lisbon, and Deana and husband Lee of Sabattus, Asiah and fiancée Monica of Lisbon, and 8 grandchildren of whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his lifelong friend Beth Hoium of Moyock, NC. He also had many nieces, nephews and close friends that loved him very much.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a funeral service and celebration of his life at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. A committal service with military honors will follow at Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Per Frank’s request to not have many flowers, those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable donation in his memory to The VA Medical Center in Togus, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330 or your local VA hospital.
