WEST BATH — Ralph W. Williams, 81, passed peacefully on September 7, 2013, after a long illness.
Ralph was born in Phippsburg on July 29, 1932, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Mann) Williams, he grew up in Phippsburg and attended schools there. In 1950 Ralph joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for the next 3 years during the Korean Conflict.
After returning home he started his working career. He was a man of many trades, a lobsterman, he had a small construction company, worked for a travel construction company, supervisor at Maine Yankee, a longtime employee of Bath Iron Works, working in many different departments, including a welder, tinshop and transportation. He also ran a saw mill part time, something he enjoyed very much. He was truly a jack of all trades. Ralph was a very hard worker, an attribute he was very proud of, however nothing came before his family.
He was a devoted husband of 48 years, a loving dad of 4 children and a grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren who meant the world to him. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting for duck, deer and moose and he also had a passion for fishing. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
He is predeceased by 4 brothers, Arthur Jr., Donald, John and Edward; 3 sisters, Doris Morse, Adelaide Mott and Theresa Longacher.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Judith L. Greenleaf Williams; children, Joseph R. Williams of Woolwich, Brenda Booker of Middleburg. FL, Lisa Williams of West Bath, Penny Faulkingham of West Bath; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, (southside) Bath, Maine. A reception will follow at Corliss Street Annex.
