FREEPORT — Hannah Williams scored three goals and dished out an assist as the Freeport High School field hockey team gave first-year coach Marcia Wood her first win with the Falcons with a 5-1 Western Maine Conference win over Gray-New Gloucester on a rainy Friday.
“It feels great to get this first one, and the girls were excited to get this win,” said Wood, whose Falcons head to Poland on Tuesday. “Everyone played well and had a hand in this win.”
Freeport (1-3) jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead. Emily Sturtevant and Dani Foster added a goal apiece for the Falcons, while netminders Morgan Karnes and Bri Bellefleur combined on six saves.
Sara Carter scored the lone goal for Gray- New Gloucester (0-4).

BRUNSWICK 0
McKenna Rogers tallied one goal and an assist to lead the Bulldogs to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win at Brunswick on Saturday.
Rogers staked Lawrence (3-1) to a 1-0 halftime lead, and the Bulldogs dominated the second half, getting one goal each from Lauren Watson, Dominique Lewis and Hallee Parlin.
Brunswick netminder Jordan Van Savage was sensational in goal, turning aside 31 shots. The Dragons, 1-3 and slated to visit Skowhegan today at 4 p.m., failed to muster a shot against Lawrence goaltender Emily Pozier.
Playing well for Brunswick were defenders Maddie Krolak and Brittany Beaulieu, along with midfielders Grace Rabinowitz, Caroline Rivard and Ellie Leinert.

In KVAC play on Saturday, the host Eagles dipped to 0-4 and are scheduled to visit Lawrence on Tuesday.
Skowhegan (4-0) outshot the Eagles 33-0 and led in penalty corners, 18-0.
For Mt. Ararat, goaltender Renee Rossignol made 16 stops and teammate Nellie Hetherington had six stops.
In the first half, Brooke Michonski scored with 22:50 left, Mikalyla Toth made it 2-0 with 17:55 left, Rylie Blanchet scored 25 seconds later and Renee Wright, Michonski (assisted by Wright) and Michonski again (assisted by Allison Lancaster) made for a 6-0 halftime lead.
In the second period, Michonski converted a Logan LeBlanc feed at 1:45, LeBlanc scored at 5:07 and Wright scored off a LeBlanc assist with 11:17 remaining.

The game was postponed on Friday and tenatively is rescheduled for Thursday (4 p.m.).
