The Central Maine Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will host its third annual Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Penobscot County Conservation Alliance in Brewer. The event will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Individual membership and dinner tickets are $60 and there is also a membership and spouse package that includes two dinners for $95. The Maine Red Claws will host an open tryout in Scarborough on Oct. 12. The single-day tryout format will include team drills, individual skills work and scrimmages. There is a registration fee of $150. There will also be an invite-only tryout on Sept. 28 in Waltham, Mass.
