DAMARISCOTTA — The Midcoast Printmakers Inc. is starting a new series of wood block printing classes on Fridays, Sept.27 and Oct. 4.
The classes will be held in the studio at the DRA/Round Top Farm on Business Route 1 (across from Hammond Lumber) in Damariscotta from 9 a.m. to noon. Come to one or both.
The $40 fee includes the wood, paper and ink. Tools are available, but you can bring your own. Call Dick Miller at 644-8849 to register.
Printing with carved wood blocks dates back to the middle ages when the process was used to illustrate books. It is a method used contunuously to the present time.
Check the web site at www.midcoastprintmakers.co m for other classes.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
