BATH — Registrations are now being accepted for the annual Bath Area Family YMCA Pumpkin Run 5K and Children’s one mile Fun Run to be held on Oct. 27.
The Fun Run starts at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K to follow at 9 a.m.
Both runs are sponsored by Byrnes’ Family Hospitality Group, and begin and end at the YMCA.
The 5K course is an out and back with a couple of short hills. Proceeds from the runs benefit the Youth Scholarship Program and Annual Campaign at the YMCA.
Pumpkins will be presented to the first- and second-place finishers in a variety of age groups, with separate categories for men and women. Awards will be also be given to the best costume. Runners are encourged to come in costume, but should remember that costumes should not block sight or impede running.
Awards are presented at approximately 10 a.m., and refreshments will be available following the race.
The first 75 registrants in the 5K will receive long sleeve wicking T-shirts. Preregistration is $15 and race-day registration is $20 for the 5K, while the fee for the Fun Run is $5.
Race-day registrations are accepted from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
