NEW FACES

• Tom Peterson, of Brunswick, joined Gorham Savings Bank as a loan officer.

Peterson has more than 13 years experience at Wells Fargo home mortgage.

He has been active in the Androscoggin Valley Board of Realtors and the Merrymeeting Board of Realtors, where he was named Realtor affiliate of the Year. Peterson also acted as past president of Mortgage Bankers Association of Maine. 

 

• Ann Quinlan joined First Light Home Care as a community relations director.

Quinlan, of Portland, has more than 20 years experience in elder care management, case management and caregiver education. She is a current member of the Maine Senior Resources Alliance and is on the committee of At Home On Munjoy.

 

• Peter Bishop joined Salem Advisory Group, LLC as an investment adviser representative.

Bishop, of Saco, has more than 23 years experience in the industry. He had worked at RBC Wealth Management since 2001. His investment qualifications include NASD Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65 registrations as well as being licensed for life, health, and variable insurance contracts.

 

• Suzanne Magoon joined Winxnet, a Portland-based IT solutions provider, as a user experience designer.

Most recently, she worked as a senior web designer for the website services group at Fidelity Investments in Boston.

 

AWARDS

• Four women were recently recognized with the Deborah Morton Award, which honors women who have success in their careers and public service, or whose leadership in civic, cultural or social causes has been exceptional. This year’s inductees are: Eleanor Baker, CPA, managing principal of Baker Newman Noyes; Anne Lynch, executive director of The Center for Grieving Children; Lois Galgay Reckitt, executive director, Family Crisis Services; and Barbara Vereault, DO, Penobscot Community Health Center.

This year’s scholarship awardees are UNE nursing students Kelli Sousa of the Class of 2016 and Renee Violette of the Class of 2015.

Baker is co-founder and managing principal of Baker Newman Noyes. She is a trustee at the University of Maine system and with UMaine’s School of Law Foundation. She is also a trustee at Maine Public Broadcasting Network, and a trustee and finance chair for the executive committee of the Portland Symphony Orchestra. 

Lynch was appointed executive director of the Center for Grieving Children in July 2001. She was previously the center’s outreach director and education coordinator and facilitated its Bereavement Peer Support Program as a volunteer for three years.

Galgay Reckitt has served as the executive director of Family Crisis Services since 1990. She has been at the forefront of Maine’s efforts to stop domestic abuse and assist its victims, and has lobbied for stronger laws against abuse and pushed for aggressive enforcement of those laws.

Vereault helped to create Penobscot Community Health Center of Bangor in 1997 as one of only two providers. She served as medical director of PCHC until 2006 when she decided to devote all of her time to family practice.

 

CERTIFICATIONS

• Deb Hutson, who works at Keller Williams Realty, 50 Sewall St. in Portland, has completed the training to become Maine’s first certified real estate divorce specialist, according to a press release.

As a specialist, Huston was trained in the legal and tax aspects of the divorce as they relate to real estate. The training also allows specialists to help their divorcing clients take advantage of tax laws that are specific to selling house in divorce.

• Fournier’s Fitness Center in Portland has changed its name to The Fitness Factory.
