The Town Office in Durham hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday closed and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-2561. The Town Office will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14, for Columbus Day.

Meetings

Selectmen will hold a public informational meeting Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m., at the Duhram Community School, to inform the public of the progress made in regards to the Public Works Department. Selectmen will also meet Oct. 22, at 6: 30 p.m., at the Town Office.

The Planning Board will meet Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.

The Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m., at the Union Church/Old Town Hall.

CEO available

The town’s codes enforcement officer will be available from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 2, 9, 23 and 30, at the Town Office.

Food collection Oct. 4 and 5

The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a food drive at Food City in Lisbon Falls on Oct. 4 and 5 for the LACO Food Pantry. Donations of money or food are welcome.

Supper proceeds aid Durham Giving Tree

The final Masonic bean supper of the season will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, from 4:30-6 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge, on Route 136 across from the River Park. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies. The prices are $7.50 for adults, $3 for children 5-12, and free for children under 5. Proceeds from the supper will benefit the Durham Giving Tree, for children who will not have a Christmas.

Family Fun Fair at Shiloh Chapel

On Saturday, Oct. 12, from noon-3 p.m., the Shiloh Chapel will be hosting its annual Family Fun Fair. Everything is free. There will be games for kids with prizes, scavenger hunt, lawn games for adults, tours of Shiloh, hot dogs and drinks and more. Shiloh Chapel is located off Route 125 on Shiloh Road in Durham.

AMVETS Post 13 seeks members

Are you a veteran or do you know one? Want to belong to an organization that supports other veterans, families and the local community? Halloween party to benefit AMVET post

Durham is hosting a Halloween Harvest Moon Halloween Party to benefit the AMVET Post on Friday, Oct. 18, from 8 p.m.-midnight. Bring a carved pumpkin and enter in the contest for “Best Pumpkin.” Munchies will be provided and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale. This is a party for over 21 only. There will be an attendant at the door asking for ID for those whose age is in question. Alcohol is welcome, however, BYOB. Advance tickets are $6 per person or $10 a couple. Tickets at the door are $10 per person and $14 per couple. There will be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds raised will be donated to the AMVETS to help them stay open during the winter months and continue to offer their facility to residents. This is a party created by donations from local sponsors.

Eureka rentals

For rentals at the Eureka Center, contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323. She is now in charge of the Eureka Center scheduling and rentals.

Fun times at community center

The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Route 9 and Route 136, will be hosting cribbage every Tuesday from 8-11 a.m. at the Eureka Center. Coffee and light refreshments will be available.

Other events scheduled include Couponing for the Community, which meets every other Tuesday (next session Oct. 8) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. No cost. Learn the basics including where/how to find and collect coupons; how to organize them in a way that works best for you; and how to begin using them. Pat Provost heads this community project with the hopes that some of the skills acquired will be used to give back to the community by helping families in need.

Food pantry open Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach serves the towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon Falls.

The hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday 8-10 a.m. The Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street. The parking lot for the food pantry is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church off Berry Avenue. In addition to the food pantry there is a free clothing bank.
