BANGOR (AP) — The husband of a former Chelsea selectwoman convicted of extortion and tax-related charges has been found guilty of tax fraud, too.

Marshall Swan, a contractor, was convicted Wednesday in federal court in Bangor of five counts of filing false income tax returns from 2006 to 2010.

The 56-year-old Swan was freed on bail pending sentencing.

Prosecutors say he underreported $650,000 in income.

He blamed his estranged wife, saying she was in charge of business and family finances.

His lawyer tells the Kennebec Journal that he’s “deeply disappointed” with the verdict.
