Forward Jordan Szwarz will serves as the 16th team captain for the 2013-14 Portland Pirates squad.

Forwards Andy Miele, Brandon McMillan and Tim Kennedy and defenseman Brandon Gormley will serve as assistant team captains.

The AHL team will open its season against the Manchester Monarchs on Wednesday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
