BRUNSWICK — A pair of Bowdoin College football players have been recognized in weekly awards handed out by the New England Small College Athletic Conference on Sunday.

Tailback Zach Donnarumma was named Offensive Player of the Week, while punter/kicker Andrew Murowchick was honored as Special Teams of the Week following the Polar Bears’ first win of the season — a 13-10 victory over Tufts on Saturday.

Donnarumma rushed for 136 yards on 29 carries for a healthy 4.7 yards/carry average and scored a key touchdown in the final minute before halftime to give Bowdoin a 10-3 lead at the break.

The senior now ranks third all-time at Bowdoin with 502 carries in his career and has accumulated 1,831 yards to rank sixth in program history. He is 169 yards away from becoming just the fifth Polar Bear to surpass 2,000 career rushing yards.

Murowchick nailed a pair of field goals — including a 29- yarder in the third quarter that proved to be the difference. In addition, he punted five times for an average of 38.2 yards/kick. The sophomore currently ranks second in the NESCAC in punting average (37.8 yards/kick) and has connected on all four of his field goal attempts.

The Polar Bears will look to even their record this upcoming Saturday as they play host to Hamilton on Homecoming Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Whittier Field.
