BRUNSWICK — Jeff Edmonds, 42, of Brunswick, died at home Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, from bile duct cancer.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Bridget (Grosser), and their two children: Fiona (9) and Oliver (6). He is also survived by his mother, Sandy Edmonds (Susan Trimm) of Candler, NC; father Bob Edmonds (Denise) of Punta Gorda, FL; brothers Thom Edmonds (Indra) of Strafford, NH; Tony Retrosi (Stephanie) of Dover, NH; and Chris Retrosi of Rome, NY; mother-in-law Theresa Grosser of Duluth, MN; brothers-in-law Aaron Grosser (Beth) of Bloomington, MN, and Joel Grosser (Andrea) of Fort Collins, CO; plus several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and dear friends too numerous to mention … but you know who you are!

Jeff was born in Syracuse, NY, and grew up in Cortland, NY and Barrington, NH, where he attended Dover High School. He graduated with degrees in cinema and English from SUNYBinghamton after which he had a short stint as a reporter at Foster’s Daily Democrat, and then followed his heart and moved to Missoula, MT to live in the Rocky Mountains. For the past four years, Jeff and his family made their home in Brunswick, where he worked as a print production specialist for L.L. Bean and spent every weekend possible taking his young family exploring the mountains and shorelines of Maine and New Hampshire.

Jeff was a runner (ran the Beach to Beacon in August this year!), drummer, and movie buff, but what Jeff loved most was being a father and husband. On breaks between chemo, he introduced his children to his cherished childhood home in central New York, Disney World, Colorado, New York City, and Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the most wonderful neighbors and friends who blessed their lives daily … who journeyed with them as they worked through the rigors of chemo and all the burdens that came with learning to live with cancer. As posted on Caring Bridge several weeks ago: We are truly humbled and amazed by the generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness of the people in our lives.

The family requests that any memorials be given to the Fiona and Oliver Edmonds Education Fund, c/o Atlantic Regional Credit Union, 55 Cushing St., Brunswick, ME 04011. And they ask each of you to keep alive Jeff ’s memory in your hearts and in your homes by continuing to speak his name, celebrate his life and retell his stories for years to come.

And as Jeff posted just last month: Thank you again, everyone. You kept us afloat. Peace, love & Yahtzee.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 18th at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, with Katy Denning as the celebrant. Children are welcome!

Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com.
