OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco Bay area commuters again waited late into the night before federal mediators announced late Tuesday that a planned rail strike would once more be delayed and contract negotiations would continue. Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were scheduled to run today, averting what likely would have been a crippling morning commute.

Federal mediator George Cohen said Tuesday night that the parties have made some progress in the intense negotiations.
