MONMOUTH — Nelson L. Madore, 74, died unexpectedly at his Monmouth home with his loving wife at his side early Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013.

He was born May 2, 1939, in Frenchville, the 11th of 15 children born to Leonard and Alice (Roy) Madore.

The family moved to Lewiston when he was 11. He attended Lewiston schools and worked in various shoe factories and at Jake and Andy’s Donuts.

He married Fernande Clavette on Aug. 20, 1966, and they raised five children.

He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and tending his animals. He enjoyed trying new foods.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Fernande Madore of Monmouth; four children, Rachel Doucette and her husband, Michael, of Lewiston, Ron Madore and his longtime companion, Laurie Burgess, of Monmouth, Daryl Madore and his wife, Candida of Monmouth, and Michael Madore of Winthrop; 10 grandchildren, Stephanye and Derrick Doucette, Sadiee Austin and Dakota Madore, Micah, Tierzah, Keturah, Lydiah, Azariah and Josiah Madore; and his granddog, Ace; four brothers, Roland and Gaetanne Madore of Monmouth, Junior and Barbara Madore of Wales, Elmer and Anita Madore of Lewiston, and Valier and Marie Madore of Sabattus; four sisters, Winnie Theriault of Fort Fairfield, Geraldine Russell of Auburn, Joan Godbout of Auburn, and Theresa Dennis of Turner; and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers Edwin Madore and Reynold Madore; and four sisters, Ida Dumont, Irene Frasier, and infants Edwina and Wellena.

A memorial service is planned Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at South Monmouth Baptist Church, on South Monmouth Road in Monmouth.
