Downeast Cyclocross
Come cheer on the bike racers at the Downeast Cyclocross, Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20, held at Valley Farm, Pineland Farms, New Gloucester. While you’re there, take the free shuttle to visit The Market and Welcome Center on the Pineland campus.
Pumpkin Carving
It’s pumpkin time at Pineland Farms. Carve a jack-o-lantern and learn all about pumpkins on Tuesday, Oct. 22, or Wednesday, Oct. 30, 10-11:30 a.m. The program is open to ages 3 and up. Tickets cost $5 per person and can be purchased at The Market and Welcome Center, 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester.
Holiday Assistance
Each year the Caring Community of Gray-New Gloucester provides holiday assistance to individuals, including senior citizens, and families of Gray and New Gloucester who find themselves in need of holiday food assistance.
Applications for Thanksgiving Baskets went out recently to the elementary schools in both towns. Applications are also available, for pick-up and drop-off, in the lock boxes at the Gray or New Gloucester Town Offices, at the Gray or New Gloucester public libraries, as well as Dunn, Memorial and Russell Schools. Completed applications need to be turned in no later than Friday, Nov 1.
The CC of G-NG is a volunteer group organized to provide holiday assistance to individuals or families within the towns of Gray and New Gloucester in the form of Thanksgiving dinner baskets and Christmas gifts for children, and family meals.

Hunter’s Breakfast
New Gloucester Fire and Rescue will be sponsoring a hunter’s all-you-can-eat breakfast, in conjunction with the first day of Maine resident firearms deer hunting season, from 4:30-10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2. Breakfast, including eggs, pancakes, home fries, sausage, biscuits and beans, orange juice, milk, coffee, and water, will be served at the station’s location, 611 Lewiston Road, New Gloucester. Also, “to go” service is offered. The cost is $7 for ages 5 and older, free for those under 4.
Dance to Stolen Mojo
The Royal River Riders Snowmobile Club will be hosting its first dance of the season from 8 p.m.-midnight, Saturday, Nov. 2, featuring the popular band Stolen Mojo. Tickets are available for $10 per person.
Also, raffle tickets are being sold at $2 each, or three for $5. The grand prize is a three-night stay at Sally Mountain Cabins in Jackman for two adults and two children, with a $100 Visa gift card. Buy a Brick
A means of contributing to the proposed New Gloucester Veterans Monument, while leaving a permanent message at the monument, is to Buy a Brick. This is a fundraiser whereby engraved bricks with personalized messages will be installed in the foundation area of the monument, upon its completion. Each 4-by-8-inch brick can be inscribed with a name or personalized message for future generations to see. Each brick will be able to accommodate 15 characters per line, up to three lines.

New Gloucester Farmers’ Market
The New Gloucester Farmers’ Market, 37 Peacock Hill Road, New Gloucester will be held in the sun porch at Connemara Farm from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and Tuesday, Oct. 22. Vendors will be Farmers’ Eight, Debbie’s Pies, Foggs Hill Farm, and Connemara Farm. The market will be closing for the season afterward.
