Eliot police on Monday released a video surveillance image of two men who robbed a local bank at gunpoint Saturday morning.

Police Chief Theodor Short said he is hopeful that by releasing the surveillance image, which shows two men wearing hooded sweatshirts, someone might recognize the suspects.

Both men were wearing white sneakers and blue jeans at the time of the robbery. One of the men can be seen cradling a handgun in his right hand.

The robbers fled from the Kennebunk Savings Bank branch office with an undetermined amount of cash.

Short said his department is being assisted in the investigation by Maine State Police and the FBI.

Anyone with information concerning the robbery, which took place around 10:45 a.m., should contact Eliot Police at 207-439-1179.
