HOLLIS (AP) — State police say two men have surrendered after separate standoffs.
Spokesman Steve McCausland says 50-year-old Ed Hutchinson surrendered around 11 p.m. Tuesday following a six-hour standoff at his home. Police were called to the house after Hutchinson fired a shotgun blast that blew out a window. He’s been charged with reckless conduct with a firearm and criminal threatening. He was taken to the York County Jail.
About 280 miles away in Amity, 65-year-old Gary Knapp walked out of the woods at his remote camp unarmed around 3 p.m. after a day-long standoff. He has been charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and was taken to Aroostook County Jail. Authorities say he threatened his brother with a rifle Monday night.
