BATH
State Sen. Eloise Vitelli, DArrowsic, held her first constituent forum in Bath on Thursday evening.
Vitelli said she has signed onto four bills. Because only emergency bills are permitted to be discussed during the shorter second session, it is not yet clear if any of them will advance. One would address solar energy; another would help MaineCare children find dentists; a third would expand employment apprenticeship programs and allow the state to step in when a company realizes it is in trouble, before it has to lay off workers or close. Some of the options may include buyout programs, including facilitiating worker buyouts.
The final bill would allow current county commissioners to retain their seats without having to move — a problem caused by changes made during reapportionment.
Vitelli announced her committee assignments, which inclide a seat on the Select Committee on Workforce and Economic Future; and a post as chairwoman of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry committee.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
