
Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. recently held its 42nd annual meeting at its historic Winter Street Center.
The evening included summaries of all the hard work the various committees have accomplished and the election of new three-year trustees to the SPI board — Julie Brillard of Bath, Joanne Marco of Bath and Kitty Wheeler of Woolwich.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Preservation Awards in the categories of Residential, Commercial/ Public Building and Friend of Preservation. The following people and companies were honored. Residential Awards went to Hector Casas, Cynthia Galea, Kippy Rudy, Don and Ruth Lawson- Stopps, Jerry and Carol Stergio, and Lee Derosa and Mary Condo, all of Bath.
Commercial/Public Building Awards were given to the City of Bath for ongoing restoration of the Old Bath Customs House, and to Sagadahoc Real Estate Association and Peter B. Chevonelle Jr. of Masonry Preservation Associates for restoration of 162 and 168 Front St.
The Friends of Preservation Awards went to Barry Sturgeon of the Davenport Trust and Kerry S. Nelson of Bath Historical Society. A special Lifetime Friend of Preservation Award was presented to Trustee Judy Barrington of Bath for her tireless work at SPI for more than 40 years and for her preservation work at the state level with Maine Preservation.
