BRUNSWICK— Bowdoin senior back Ben Brewster has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for his performance Saturday in a win over Colby.
A stalwart defender, Brewster scored the game’s first goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 4-1 win over the Mules. The senior back put home a corner kick in the 13th minute to give the Polar Bears an early lead and, after Colby tied the game before halftime, set up Matt Dias Costa’s go-ahead score with 25 minutes remaining.
The win moved Bowdoin into fourth place in the conference standings with a chance to earn homefield advantage in Saturday’s NESCAC quarterfinals.
The winner of this afternoo’’ s contest between Bowdoin and Tufts (3:00 p.m.) will earn the fourth seed and first-round hosting rights.
