HARPSWELL — Kathryn L. Raymond, 98, of Harpswell Island Road, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on Aug. 8, 1915, a daughter of Guy and Ellsworth (Embree) Coffin.

She graduated from the Maine School of Commerce and was employed at an attorney’s office in Auburn. She moved to Caribou during World War II and was employed at the U.S. Weather Bureau as a meteorological aide. She met and married Charles L. Raymond, a farmer in Caribou, in 1952. They traveled to various places throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Alaska while living in Maine and Florida. She was also a professional artist, painting on porcelain and jewelry.

Kathryn enjoyed oil painting, porcelain painting, reading about news, politics, history and biographies. She also enjoyed music, radio, documentaries, made her own clothes and as a young woman skied and golfed whenever she could. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Raymond in 1993; one sister, Glennis Mockler; two nephews, Lee Mockler and Kent Mockler.

She is survived by her stepson, Robert Raymond of Watertown, MA; two nieces, Sherri Duprey of Bailey Island and New York and Liz Mockler of Augusta; and one nephew, Murray Mockler of Harpswell.
