Two people were arrested on drug charges at the Super 8 Motel in Westbrook on Thursday and a third was charged with failing to provide his correct name, police said.
The arrests were made around 9:30 a.m. and various drugs including MDMC – which police said is similar to Ecstasy – were seized.
Westbrook police said MDMC is common in other parts of the country, but relatively new in Maine.
Brittany Vezina, 23, of Naples was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class A felony. Jerome Richards, 28, of Warren was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
William Wheelock, 23, of Windham was charged with failing to provide a correct name to police.
Westbrook police, who were assisted by officers from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in the case, said they seized MDMC, heroin, marijuana, pills, a handgun, ammunition, scales and packaging and $3,909 in cash.
Westbrook police said their investigation is continuing and more charges are anticipated.
