FALMOUTH — Haley DeGraca scored off a perfect crossing pass from Tori Daigle with 10:19 left in the second overtime as third-ranked Thornton Academy defeated No. 2 Falmouth 1-0 Saturday afternoon in a Western Class A girls’ soccer semifinal.

The Trojans (14-1-1) will play top-seeded Windham in the regional finals on Wednesday. Falmouth, in its first year in Class A after winning the last three Class B state championships, finished 12-3-1.

Daigle, a speedster, had been held in check all day by Falmouth’s defense. But she gained control of the ball at midfield and sped past a defender down the right wing.

She then crossed a pass into the middle and DeGraca cut in from the left and beat Falmouth goalkeeper Maggie Seitz to the ball, kicking it into the net.

“I saw Tori beat her defender and she sent a perfect pass,’’ said DeGraca. “In my mind, I said I was going to get it, no matter what.’’

Thornton controlled most of the play throughout the game. Falmouth was limited to just a few scoring chances.
