FRYEBURG

Police say home invasions could be connected

Fryeburg police are investigating a home invasion they believe may be related to two similar recent crimes in town.

According to police, someone forced open a basement window early Saturday morning to get into a home on Sanborn Road.

The homeowners were asleep, but were awakened by noises downstairs, police said, and found that a purse and car keys were missing.

Police said the woman who heard the noises believes she just missed the intruders and they fled.

Police, using a tracking dog, found the keys and the purse nearby, but some cash was missing from the purse.

Police said evidence at the scene leads them to believe the home invasion was related to another on Elkins Brook Road and a burglary at the Harvest Hills animal shelter. The investigation is continuing, they said.
