PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s largest environmental advocacy organization has begun accepting registrations for its sixth annual cold-water ocean plunge and 5-kilometer run to raise money in the name of climate change.
The Natural Resources Council of Maine says the registration fee for its Polar Bear Dip and Polar Bear Dash is $30 until Nov. 15, and $35 after that.
Participants can take part in the run at Portland’s Back Cove at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31 or the ocean swim at noon at East End Beach, or both. People can register online at nrcm.kintera.org/dipdash.
The fundraising goal is $20,000, which will support the Natural Resource Council of Maine’s work to reduce pollution.
