BATH
Voters in Bath overwhelmingly approved a $2.5 million road bond Tuesday.
Some of the funds will serve as the city’s match for a grant it received to repair Route 209, also known as lower High Street, which runs south to the Phippsburg town line.
Bath recently received a grant for $500,000 to repair the street, which is a state highway from Leeman Highway to the West Bath town line.
The remainder of the funds will be used to repair surface streets in town, such as North Street, and roads in the North Bath area.
Voters approved the bond by a vote of 1,208-328.
City Clerk Mary White said voter turnout was 22 percent in this off-year election, with 1,555 votes cast.
In uncontested races, voters returned City Councilors Mari Eosco, running in Ward 5, Leverett “Tink” Mitchell in Ward 7 and Steve Brackett at-large.
School Board member Alan Walton won unopposed in District 6.
Bath also favored the Regional School Unit 1 bond question Tuesday
