AUGUSTA, Maine — Highway safety officials say traffic deaths are down in Maine.

The Bureau of Highway Safety says 118 people have been killed in traffic accidents on Maine roads so far this year. That’s down from 137 traffic fatalities at this time last year.

Officials say August has been the deadliest month with 22 deaths, followed by July with 18.
