HAMPTON, Va. — Derek W. Stimpson, 29, of Hampton, formerly of Durham, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

He was born in Lewiston, Maine, on June 2, 1984, the son of Rodnell and Jane Stimpson.

Derek enjoyed playing video games, computers, listening to heavy metal music and particularly playing with his little cousins.

Derek graduated from Brunswick High School in 2002. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked for a private contractor for the government as a telecommunications specialist. Derek was enrolled in College at ECPI University in Newport News, Va.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Albert Simpson Sr., of Durham; grandmother, Evelyn Tryon of Pownal; and grandfather Richard Tryon of Pownal.

Derek is survived by his parents of Durham; sister, Erika Stimpson of Keene, N.H.; his daughter in Virginia; grandmother Jean Stimpson of Durham; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home with a burial to follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Pownal.

Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 25 Tampa St., Lewiston, Maine.
