AMHERST, Mass. — Former Brunswick High School standout goaltender Peter Morrell and his Williams College men’s soccer teammates are headed to the NCAA Division III “Final Four” after a stunning 1-0 win over New England Small College Athletic Conference champion Amherst on Sunday in the “Elite Eight.”
After five losses during the regular season, the Ephs thought their season was over after falling to Amherst in the NESCAC title game.
But, the NCAA awarded Williams an at-large bid thanks to a tough schedule, and after a “Sweet 16” 2-0 win over Brandeis on Saturday, the Ephs took out the nemesis Jeffs.
Chris Conder scored the lone goal for Williams, and Morrell made key saves down the stretch to preserve the win and send the Ephs to their second straight Final Four.
