ON NOV. 15, three delegates from Portugal visited Brunswick High School’s Service Learning Class during their visit to Maine as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The visitors were in Maine studying U.S. communities affected by military base realignment and, in addition to the high school, attended meetings at Brunswick Landing and with local government officials and business executives. While at the high school the visitors interacted with students from Mr. Wilson’s Service Learning Class hearing about a class project concerning the former naval air station and talked to the students about the Azores. Two students also led a brief tour of the high school. In addition to Maine, the group visited Washington, D.C., and Jacksonville, Florida. This visit was arranged by the International Visitors Program of the World Affairs Council of Maine in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.
