Saco police say two businesses were robbed by armed men in the last two days and a third was the target of an attempted robbery.
About 5:40 p.m. Thursday, a man showed a silver handgun and demanded money at the register of the Beachway General Store on Beach Street, police said.
The man was described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a tan jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans and a camouflage fleece face mask.
The man ran toward the back of the business and police tried to track him but were unsuccessful.
At 4:20 p.m. Friday, a man went into Luis’s Arepera Grill on North Street and tried to get into the cash register before fleeing, possibly in a dark sedan, police said.
The man was described as white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds, wearing a dark jacket and a winter-style hat with an orange liner and ear flaps.
While police were investigating that incident, a man entered the Big Apple Citgo on Route 1 about 4:45 p.m., showed a silver handgun and demanded money.
He was described as white, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with blond hair and wearing a black jacket, a camouflage-style hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans and black sneakers.
The man fled north on Route 1 and Maine State Police brought in a tracking dog but could not find the suspect.
