The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District will host a meeting of the Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties USDA Local Working Group, 9:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 19 at the USDA Service Center, 254 Goddard Road, Lewiston.
Local working groups assist the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in matters relating to the implementation and technical aspects of conservation programs under Title II of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act.
Agenda items include prioritizing resource concerns affecting land users and setting funding allocation pool percentages; reviewing Environmental Quality Incentive Program practices and payment rates for future participants; implementing an application screening tool for prioritization of conservation planning needs for 2014 program applicants; and using the application evaluation ranking tool to address local issue questions for Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties’ applications.
