SANTA CLAUS WARMS HIMSELF while vendors sell treats at last year’s Wiscasset holiday shopping event. This Saturday, the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce and the town of Wiscasset will kick off their first shoplocal campaign, Think Outside the Box, with fire pits on the dock and hot refreshments for shoppers awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, who will sail up the Sheepscot River in a local lobster boat, landing at Wiscasset Commercial Pier at approximately 3 p.m. to meet and greet children, pose for photographs and to help the town get ready for its tree lighting ceremony later that evening. The fun begins at 2 p.m. with holiday vendors and free horseand wagon rides in the village. Think Outside the Box Passports will be available: For every $20 spent with a participating business or nonprofit, a shopper will receive a stamp in his or her passport. Five stamps qualify a shopper for the a prize drawing Dec. 21 at Le Garage's Le Bar, 15 Water St.The Wiscasset Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Town Commons in front of the First Congregational Church.
