BOWDOINHAM — State Rep. Seth Berry of Bowdoinham was among seven people who jumped in the Cathance River Saturday during the second annual Polar Bear Dip to raise money for an organization of their choice.

Berry for the second time collected sponsors in order to raise money to complete a skatepark adjacent to the Mailly Waterfront Park; only this time he strapped on a helmet and knee pads and skateboarded down the dock before making a frigid splash. The park will honor the memory of skateboard enthusiast Matthew Parker, who died suddenly of an illness in 2004 at age 15.

The town had raised around $15,000 to go towards the park and has completed the base, but there is still more money to be raised. Berry has posted more information on his Facebook page along with an image of the park design.
