BIDDEFORD – A Biddeford man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place earlier this month at the Family Dollar store on Elm Street.
Biddeford Police Department Deputy Chief JoAnne Fisk said officers arrested 39-year-old Charles E. Reed III at his home on 82 Green St. on Wednesday.
Reed allegedly entered the Family Dollar store around 9:30 p.m. on the night of Dec. 2 with another armed suspect. Both men were wearing disguises. They demanded cash and fled the store with a small amount of money.
The other suspect has not been apprehended, Fisk said.
Biddeford police allegedly found computers and iPhones in Reed’s home that had been stolen in burglaries that occurred in Saco and Scarborough but Fisk declined to provide more details.
Fisk said that Reed’s arrest had nothing to do with the other armed robberies that occurred in Biddeford during the same time period. The 27-year-old suspect in those robberies, Tyler Trottier, committed suicide last week after a manhunt. Police tried to negotiate with him in his King Street apartment before Trottier shot himself.
