BRUNSWICK — Blake Gordon scored 29 points and had five steals and eight assists as the Brunswick High School boys basketball team downed Lewiston, 76- 60, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference boys high school basketball action on Monday.

Elliot Boyd had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the 3-1 Dragons, who visit Oxford Hills on Thursday. Derek Devereaux nailed a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points, with Ryan Black adding nine.

Brunswick led 17-15 and 36-31 at the first two quarter breaks. A 19- 10 edge in the third quarter gave Brunswick a 55-41 lead heading to the fourth.

Isaiah Harris had 16 points for 2-2 Lewiston, with Carlos Gonzalez adding 15 and Mohamed Mohamed 10.

The undefeated Capers turned a 33-33 halftime deadlock into a 12- point edge after three quarters for a Western Maine Conference win over winless Freeport.

The Falcons, 0-4 and scheduled to visit York on Thursday, jumped out to a 16-12 first-quarter edge, and in the fourth got within nine points before falling short.

Eddie Galvin and Justin Guerette both had 17 points to lead Cape Elizabeth (4-0), with Jack O’Rourke adding 14 points and Ethan Murphy 10.

Brendon Qualls nailed three treys to finish with a game-high 19 points for Freeport, while Jack Davenport chipped in 16 points. Chandler Birmingham finished with nine points, while Matt Schultheis pulled down nine rebounds.

The visiting Phoenix closed the first semester with a 3-0 mark in besting A.R. Gould at Portland in Class D action.

Hyde jumped out to a 20-5 lead through a quarter, and led 38-18 at the half and 50-27 through three.

Akim Sanni and Wilson MacMillan led a balanced Phoenix attack with 14 points each, with Talin Rowe and Evander Lenardson chipping in 10 points apiece.

Keegan Gaouette paced A.R. Gould (0-3) with 13 points.

The host Capers pulled away in the fourth quarter for a WMC win over the 1-3 Falcons.

The game was tight through three quarters, with Freeport taking a 12-11 lead through one. Cape Elizabeth (2-2) claimed a 19-18 halftime lead and led 34-31 through 24 minutes.

Hannah Sawyer led Cape with 16 points, followed by 12 points from Maddie Bowe.

Nina Davenport continued her solid play for Freeport, scoring a game-high 21 points. Kayla Belanger chipped in six.

The Falcons are slated to host York on Thursday.
