Office hours

Regular Durham Town Office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday closed and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-2561.

The Town Office will be closed for Christmas Dec. 23, 24 and 25. It re-opens Dec. 26 at 10:30 a.m.

The office also will be closing on Dec. 31 at noon to the public for year-end closing of books.

Tax reminder

Taxes are due by Dec. 31 at noon. Taxes paid after Dec. 31 list your name in the 2014 town report.

Selectmen meet Monday, Dec. 30, at 4:30 p.m., in the Durham Town Office.

Planning Board date change

The January Planning Board meeting will be on Jan. 8 due to the News Year’s holiday on Jan. 1. Applications for the January meeting need to be received on or before Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m.

CEO available

The town’s codes enforcement officer will be available from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 18, at the Town Office. No hours on Dec. 25.

Christmas programs at churches

Shiloh Chapel, 12 Beulah Lane (off Shiloh Road), Durham, will feature a Christmas music program on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

The First Congregational Church of Durham, 773 Royalsborough Road, will hold a Christmas Eve service, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m.

Eureka Center for rent

The Durham Eureka Community Center is available for rent. The maximum amount of people the hall holds for an event is 50. For rentals, contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323 or the Town Office at 353-2561.

The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Routes 9 and 136, hosts cribbage every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon at the Eureka Center. For more information call the Town Office at 353-2561.

Couponing for the Community meets every other Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. No cost. Learn the basics including where/how to find and collect coupons; how to organize them in a way that works best for you; and how to begin using them. Pat Provost heads this community project with the hopes that some of the skills acquired will be used to give back to the community by helping families in need.

Registration forms are available at the Durham Town Office or on www.durhammaine.com, which also lists new events and classes.

Food pantry

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach serves the towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon Falls.

The hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday 8-10 a.m. The Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street. The parking lot for the food pantry is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church off Berry Avenue. In addition to the food pantry there is a free clothing bank.
