She was born in Bath on Sept. 24, 1912, a daughter of James Roderick and Annie A. (Barnes) MacNeil.
Theo attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in the class of 1930. She went on to graduate from Gorham Normal School. Theo taught fourth grade in Bath schools for over 40 years. In 1943, she married Abram “Jack” Honsinger where they made their home at 11 Pine St., Bath. The last 13 years of her life she resided at HillHouse Assisted Living in Bath.
Over her lifetime, she was very active in many clubs and organizations. A life member of the Bath Area Senior Citizens, Bath Teachers Club, Bath Garden Club, Cosmopolitan Club, volunteered many hours to Bath Hospital Auxiliary and Thrift Shop. She taught many students in her home through the Literacy Program. After retirement she and her husband hosted many Foreign Exchange Students from all over the world. They hosted Shelter Institute students also in their home. Theo was a member of the Corliss Street Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Abram “Jack” Honsinger on Feb. 13, 1991, two sisters, Margaret MacMahan and Natalie Mac- Neil, three brothers, Harry,
John and Cecil Mac-
Neil.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, James R. MacMahan Sr. and his wife Irene of Five Islands, Natalie Phillips of Bath, Judy Mitchell and her husband Bud of Five Islands, Linda MacGillivary and her husband Daniel of Five Islands, Marilyn MacMahan of Five Islands, Franklin MacNeil and his wife Sylvia of Bath, Alice MacNeil of Raymond, Raymond MacNeil of Florida and retired Captain Mike “Chip” Honsinger and his wife Mary of Virginia, many great-nieces, nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at the HillHouse Assisted Living. She received excellent care and was showered with love which meant the world to her and she will be missed by all.
