BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick man was arrested Saturday night while allegedly driving at nearly twice the posted speed limit on U.S. Route 1, allegedly while under the influence of alcohol.

William A. Waldron, 39, was stopped on Route 1 north near the Brunswick Sewer District just before 11:30 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.

Hagan said Waldron’s 2008 Volvo which was traveling 100 mph along a section of Route 1 posted at 55 mph. After he was pulled over, Waldron allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence with one prior and criminal speed.

Waldron was taken to Cumberland County Jail and released on $350 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on Feb. 4, 2014.
