VERONA ISLAND (AP) — The Penobscot Narrows Bridge will be closed until at least this morning after reports of large chunks of ice falling off the cables and damaging cars.

The Bangor Daily News reports that the Maine Department of Transportation will reassess the situation today at dawn to determine when to re- open the bridge. The bridge carries Route 1 and 3 from Verona Island to Prospect.
