SCRANTON 72, ST. JOSEPH’S 51: Meredith Mesaris scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Royals (9-2) past the Monks (7-3) in the championship game of the Hat City Classic in Danbury, Conn.

Morgan Cahill scored 13 points and Lindsay Moore added 12 to pace St. Joseph’s, which shot just 37 percent from the field.

(2) NOTRE DAME 71, CLEMSON 51: Natalie Achonwa had 15 points and 13 rebounds to help host Notre Dame (13-0) beat Clemson (8-7) in the Atlantic Coast Conference debut for the Irish.

(3) DUKE 64, GEORGIA TECH 47: Elizabeth Williams had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help Duke (14-0) win at Georgia Tech (10-4) in an ACC opener.

(4) STANFORD 89, OREGON STATE 67: Chiney Ogwumike scored 17 of her 31 points in the first eight minutes, and the Cardinal (13-1, 2-0 Pac-12) overwhelmed the visiting Beavers (8-6, 0-2).

(5) TENNESSEE 85, No. 19 GEORGIA 70: Ariel Massengale scored a career-high 28 points, and Isabelle Harrison added 18 points and 10 rebounds to help Tennessee (12-2, 1-1 SEC) hold on at Georgia (12-3, 0-2).

FLORIDA 83, (6) KENTUCKY 73: Jaterra Bonds scored 23 points to lead Florida (12-3, 2-0 SEC) to an upset at Kentucky (12-2, 1-1) for the Gators’ eighth straight victory.

(9) BAYLOR 75, KANSAS 55: Odyssey Sims scored 30 points while matching the Baylor record for career 3-pointers and the Bears (12-1, 2-0 Big 12) stretched their home winning streak to 68 with a win over Kansas (7-7, 0-2).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

CATHOLIC 87, ST. JOSEPH’S 61: Steve Limberiou went 8 for 11 on 3-pointers and finished with 30 points to pace the Cardinals (6-5) against the Monks (4-6) at Washington, D.C.

Matt Medeiros and Jerome Diggs each scored 13 points for St. Joseph’s, which trailed by as many as 34 in the second half.

(4) WISCONSIN 75, (22) IOWA 71: Ben Brust scored 19 points and the host Badgers (15-0, 2-0 Big Ten) remained unbeaten with a win over the Hawkeyes (12-3, 1-1).

Wisconsin matched the best start in school history, tying the 1911-12 and 1913-14 teams.

(8) WICHITA STATE 67, NORTHERN IOWA 53: Fred VanVleet had a season-high 22 points to lead the host Shockers (15-0, 2-0 Missouri Valley).

ST. THOMAS 3, BOWDOIN 1: Karina Marette scored the eventual winner with 11 minutes left in the third period to help the Tommies (6-3-1) beat the Polar Bears (4-4) at Brunswick.
