SACO — Thornton Academy outscored Scarborough 26-14 in the second half to pull away for a 42-27 victory in an SMAA girls basketball game on Saturday night.

Olivia Shaw scored 12 points and Abigail Strickland added 11, including free throws in the fourth quarter, for the Golden Trojans (6-1), who also got five points from Isabella Robinson and four apiece from Lauren Leskowsky and Ashley Howe.

Bailey Adams paced the Red Storm (5-3) with 10 points.

The Trojans host undefeated McAuley ”“ who handed Thornton its only loss ”“ on Tuesday night.

Boys Hockey: Thornton 9, Portland/Deering 0

BIDDEFORD — Alex Fallon, Jimmy Remmes and Owen Lemoine each scored two goals as Thornton Academy routed Portland/Deering 9-0 at Biddeford Ice Arena on Saturday.

The Trojans scored five goals in the first period, including a short-handed goal by Fallon to open the scoring, and two goals by Remmes.

Jacob Verreault, Eric Profenno and Hunter Ebling also scored for Thornton.

Girls Hockey: Scarborough 5, Biddeford 0

BIDDEFORD — Elizabeth Gross scored two goals as part of a four-goal first period for Scarborough in a 5-0 win over Biddeford at Biddeford ice Arena on Saturday.

Megan Doak added a third-period goal for the Red Storm, and Samantha Shoebottom and Kristen Murray also tallied goals.

Cassie Ellis made 38 saves in net for the Tigers.

Boys Basketball: Bonny Eagle 68,Thornton Academy 61

SACO — Despite its best efforts, Thornton Academy couldn’t do what seven previous teams had already tried: hand Bonny Eagle its first defeat of the season. Quinn Richardson-Newton scored a team-high 16 points, and Kevin Barrett and Corey Hart chipped in with 15 and 14, respectively, but the Trojans (2-4) fell to the Scots 68-61 at Linnell Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Dustin Cole scored a game-high 26 points for Bonny Eagle (8-0).
