KENNEBUNK — A crash involving five vehicles Wednesday appears to have been caused by a medical issue experienced by a driver.
The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on York Street in Kennebunk, near the Dairy Queen.
Dana L. Scarborough, 83, of 17 Branch Road in Wells, was driving north in his 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck when he apparently experienced some type of medical issue, according to Kennebunk Police.
Scarborough struck the vehicle directly in front of him, which then caused a chain reaction. In all, Scarborough’s pickup truck, three other cars in motion and one parked car were involved in the crash.
Scarborough and three others in different vehicles were all transported by ambulances to area hospitals for evaluation, with non-life-threatening injuries. Three vehicles determined to be non-operational were towed from the scene. Scarborough’s dog, in the pickup truck with him at the time of the crash, did not sustain any injuries, according to police.
As of press time, the names of other drivers and passengers were not released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by police.
