I should be on the payroll at the Journal Tribune as a fact checker, it would be a full-time job. Regarding the article “Biddeford airport commission reinstated” on Jan. 22, there a couple of inaccuracies.
The first issue is the suggestion that the previous airport commission was disbanded due to infighting. This is not accurate. The previous commission was dissolved when four pro-airport members acted illegally in trying to remove the chairperson for keeping a balance between the needs of the airport and concerns of the surrounding residential community.
The next inaccuracy is the use of the word “trimming.” Trimming is not the goal of the airport management; clear cutting is. Come to my home and I will show you a whole empty field of the airport’s version of “trimming.”
Lastly, how do you consider an airport committee to be reinstated when none of the proposed members were voted in due to the council tabling the agenda, pending more information? When this pro-airport committee does get formed, its first goal will be expansion, which will be at the cost of all Biddeford taxpayers and the residential community surrounding the airport.
– Paul Archambault, Biddeford
