While there are no ceremonies planned, the town of Durham will be 225 years old on Feb. 17. The Union Church-Old Durham Town Hall on Route 136, built in 1835 by local Baptists, Methodists and Congregationalists, is now used during warm-weather months by the Durham Historical Society. Margaret Wentworth, a member of the historical society, said that the town used the building as its town office until 1986, when the new facility was built. It was last used as a Congregational Church in the mid-1900s, she said. The historical society will hold its first meeting of the year there on March 11, and there will be an art show sometime in May, Wentworth said. Open houses will take place on the third Saturdays in June, July and August.
