BOSTON — The organizers of the Boston Marathon have announced plans for a special tribute on the one-year anniversary of the finish line bombings that killed three and injured more than 260.
The Boston Athletic Association said Thursday the tribute to victims, survivors and first responders will be held April 15 at the Hynes Convention Center.
The tribute will be hosted jointly by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and Gov. Deval Patrick in coordination with One Fund Boston, the charity set up to help victims.
The event will feature speakers representing families of those affected, medical staff who treated patients, responding government agencies and civic leaders. It will conclude with a flag-raising ceremony and brief moment of silence.
This year’s race is scheduled for April 21.
