OLD TOWN — Police say a woman walking along an Old Town street has died after getting struck by an SUV.
The 54-year-old woman was struck from behind on Poplar Street at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck her called 911 and stopped and tried to help, but there was nothing that could be done and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Capt. Kyle Smart says it was snowy and slippery at the time and visibility was poor.
The victim’s name was not immediately made public pending notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
