Area students’ works featured in ‘Youth Art Month’
In celebration of National Youth Art Month during the month of March, the Portland Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Maine Art Education Association, has organized an exhibition of artwork created by Maine art students. This year celebrates the 34th anniversary of Youth Art Month exhibitions in Maine and the 20th annual exhibition at the museum.
The PMA’s exhibition, on view from March 8 through April 6, will showcase more than 100 works of art by students throughout the state, from elementary school through high school. All participating students will receive certificates of recognition. An exhibition celebration will be held at the PMA on Saturday, March 8 from 4-7:30 p.m.
The following area students will be featured in the exhibition: Owen Combes of Windham Primary School, Julia Kaplan of Manchester School, Alli Vogel of Stevens Brook Elementary in Bridgton, and Davin Tafuri of Lake Region Middle School and Jasmine Berube of Bonny Eagle Middle School.

hosts Student Art Show
The Bridgton Art Guild and Gallery 302 welcome to their exhibiting space art students from Lake Region High School, Fryeburg Academy and Bridgton Academy for the 2014 Student Art Show during Youth Art Month.
Sandy Arris, Teal Rancourt, and Carmel Collins, art teachers from Lake Region, will be showing photos, drawings, 3-D work, and scratch art by their students. Gabe Miller from Bridgton Academy is exhibiting clay pots thrown by his students. And finally S. Pullan will be displaying paintings, drawings and various other art work done by Fryeburg Academy students.
The student works will be on display at Gallery 302, 112 Main Street, Bridgton through March 27. A reception will be held this Saturday, March 8, from 1-3 p.m. The public is invited to come and celebrate with the students.
During Youth Art Month at the Portland Museum’s of Art, Jasmine Berube, an eighth-grader at Bonny Eagle Middle School, will feature “Preface,” a work in watercolor, crayon and Sharpie.
