Two major thoroughfares in Westbrook and Portland have reopened to normal traffic after being shut down during the morning commute on Friday after separate crashes.

Spring Street in Westbrook reopened at about noon, though it was scheduled to close for a few minutes while a tow truck removes a wrecked a car.

At 5 a.m., a car hit a utility pole, snapping the pole and bringing wires down on Spring Street near the Twin Falls Golf Club. There were no significant injuries but the road was closed while utility crews repaired the damage.

In Portland, a crash on Route 22 shut down that road briefly, but traffic has returned to normal, police said. The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of outer Congress and Skyway Drive. There were reports of injuries but more details were not immediately available.
